Concert date changed
The concert of the University Singers and Eugene Wind En
semble. originally scheduled for today has been changed to Wed
nesday, March 8.
The concert will be held in the Music School recital hall.
Dicken named ‘Mr. Geography’
Samuel Dicken. emeritus professor of geography and former head
of the Department of Geography, was given a citation as “Mr.
Geography" of Oregon and acknowledgment that “much of what
geography is today in the state is due to his efforts.”
The award of the citation was made Feb. 26 at the annual meeting
in Portland of the Oregon Academy of Science.
Outdoor film to be shown
River guide Dave Helfrich will show a film of Southeastern
Oregon’s Owyhee River at 7:30 tonight in 150 Science. The Outdoor
Program is sponsoring the evening, which is open to the public without
charge.
A trip down the Owyhee River is planned by the Outdoor Program
for the spring vacation period (week of March 19). There will be a
discussion of this and other spring and summer outings, with ad
ditional instructional meetings planned for the coming weeks.
Craft Faire to be held Friday
The ASUO Cultural Forum is sponsoring a Craft Faire on Friday
in the EMU Ballroom. Starting at 9 a.m., exhibitors will be displaying
works of their crafts from macrame to musical instruments. Ad
mission to the Craft Faire is free.
Exhibitor forms are available in 301 EMU for $1.00. Musicians are
invited to perform during the exhibition, which will conclude at 6 p.m.
Senate orientation session planned
All new ASUO Senators are invited to attend an orientation session
at 7 p.m. today in 101 EMU.The next Senate meeting is 7 p.m.Thurs
day in 101 EMU.
Faculty meeting to be held today
A proposal to seat students on two University personnel com
mittees dealing with promotion and tenure will be debated at the
general faculty meeting at 3:30 p.m. today in 150Science.
The proposal, which has been endorsed by the ASUO Senate, will
be introduced by Senate President Stephanie Larsen. It also has the
endorsement of the Faculty Senate which voted 12 to 11 (with two
abstentions) last Wednesday to recommend the bill to the full faculty.
The proposal seeks to place three students on the College of
Liberal Arts Personnel Committee and three students cm the
Professional School Personnel Committee. These committees were
created by the faculty Jan. 12 to aid the Advisory Council in in
vestigation of promotion and tenure matters.
Bangladesh relief fund meeting held
A meeting to start a student branch of the Bangladesh Emergency
Relief Fund organization will be held in the home of Jack Jordan. 1788
Moss St., at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
Jordan said he needed to form a student group if the organization _
is going to be allowed to use EMU facilities in order to raise money for
the fund.
Persons unable to attend the meeting are urged to call Jordan at
345-4047.
JOBS fair held today
The first JOBS fair for Vietnam-era veterans will be held today on
the Lane County Fair Grounds starting at 10 a .m.
The National Alliance of Businessmen, which organized the fair,
said the event is planned to "bring over 50 concerned employers and
any and all vets together" to promote the hiring of unemployed
veterans
A breakfast for the employers will precede the fair, and Harry
Stroud will key note the breakfast.
Forest hearings scheduled
Two public hearings on the future of undeveloped areas of the
Willamette National Forest are scheduled for this week in Eugene.
The first is tonight at 7:30 in Harris Hall.
The second hearing will be at 10 a m Saturday in Harris Hall. That
meeting will also be open for comment on Siuslaw and Umpqua
National Forests.
Oral comments presented at the meetings should be limited to
three to five minutes Written testimony may be submitted at the
meetings or may be mailed before April 5 to Willamette National

Architecture professor to speak
Philip Dole. professor of Architecture, will speak on the historic
buildings and sites in and around Eugene at 7 :30 tonight at the Pioneer
Museum of Lane County Fairgrounds His topic will be "Opportunities
for Preservation."
Dole is an authority in the field of historic preservation and has
been at the University since 1966 There will be a discussion how
to! lowing his address
