Alaskan wilderness film tonight
“A Day in the Sun,” the film of the life of a family in the Alaskan
wilderness above the Arctic circle, will be shown by the Outdoor
Program and the Survival Center at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the EMU
ballroom. Admission is 50 cents.
Fred and Elaine Meader, the subjects of the film, will narrate the
feature-length, col or-sound Him and discuss their wilderness ex
periences following its showing.
The public is invited to meet the Meaders earlier, at a free coffee
‘hour” from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Koinonia House, 1414 Kincaid.
Parking rules changed
In order to make the campus more accessible to students using the
libraries and other campus facilities in the evenings, the parking
subcommittee of the Campus Planning Committee has waived the
parking sticker requirement in all parking lots from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m.
on week days. Exceptions to this schedule are the reserved and
disabled parking spaces in all lots and the entire Kincaid Street lot
(Lot No. 16) which will continue to require permit stickers 24 hours a
day.
All lots will provide open parking all day on weekends with the
same exceptions. All no-permit parking will be on a first-come, first
served basis.
Bogen, Bowlin leave for councils
Vice President for Student Services Gerald Bogen and Dean of
Student Personnel Services Robert Bowlin will be out of town this
week.
Bogen and Bowlin will leave today for a meeting of the Padfic-8
Deans’ Council in Berkeley, Calif., and later in the week they will
attend a meeting of the Western College Deans’ Council in San Jose,
Calif. Both will return to campus Monday.
German program to hold reception
The University’s Overseas Study Program in Germany will be
holding a reception for interested students at 4 p.m. today in Gerlinger
Lounge. The German Study Program is a liberal arts program in
Stuttgart, Germany and is open to University students.
Under the “Stuttgart Program” a student can study for one year
in Germany without loss of credit. Sponsored by the Oregon State
System of Higher Education, the Oregon Study Center in Germany
makes it possible for an undergraduate student to gain educational
experience and still have all his credit hours taken in Germany apply
to his bachelor’s degree at the University.
To be eligible, a student must have had two years of college
German or its equivalent and have at least junior standing. Graduate
students are also welcome to participate.
Costs for the resident undergraduate, exclusive of transportation,
amount to $2,430. This sum includes four weeks of intensive language
instruction before classes begin.

Students' art work to be shown
Gareth Goodger-Hill, a Canadian graduate student in photography
at the University, is currently featured in a one man photography
show at the Koinonia Center of the Cooperative Christian Ministry
(CCM). Goodger-Hill’s showing is part of a new program being
initiated by the CCM.
Being shown along with Goodger-Hill’s photographs, is a group of
lithographs done by members of a University print making class and
arranged by Ken Paul. Paintings by David Moscher and Pat McGill
are being shown at the Wesley Center.
All of the works which will be shown at the Koinonia Center and the
Wesley Center will be on sale. The Dove’s Eye, upstairs in the
Koinonia Center, will sell student made posters.
A major showing of paintings will begin at the end of January. The
paintings have been done by University students, and will be arranged
by Tom Cappucio of the University art department.

The Koinonia Center is located at 1414 Kincaid and is open until 5
p.m daily. The Wesley Center, 1236 Kincaid, is open daily and
evenings.
OSPIRG sponsois energy study
An OSPIRG meeting regarding a study of “Energy and Power in
the Pacific Northwest” will meet at 12:30 p.m. today in the EMU.
Students interested in being a part of this study but unable to attend
the meeting, should call the new environmental Studies Center (x3S16)
and leave their name.
