Jazz concert postponed
The ASUO Cultural Forum-sponsored appearance of jazz
musician? Mose Allison and Kenny Burrell will take place at 7:30 and 9
p.m. next Friday, not tonight as was incorrectly reported in Thurs
day’s Emerald.
Preliminary hearing set
A former University student has been accused by authorities of
fatally stabbing to death a young Eugene rnan Sunday. Conrado
Gonzales, 22, is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing in Lane
County District Court on a charge of murder.
Gonzales is accused of stabbing 21-year-old Joel Gonzalez of 957
Hilyard St. between 6 and 6:30 a.m. Sunday at 585 E. 19th Ave., ac
cording to Robert Naslund, Lane County District Attorney.
A Eugene funeral home said funeral services were held in
hometown, Othello, Wash., for the victim, who died of a stab wound at
Sacred Heart General Hospital early Monday morning.
DuShane to be honored
Donald M. DuShane, who has retired as dean of student services at
the University, will be honored at a retirement dinner, Wednesday,
January 19.
The dinner, at the Black Angus restaurant, will start with a no
host social hour at 6 p.m. Dinner will be at 7 p.m., with Mrs. Golda
(Alan) Wickham, the University’s retired dean of women, as mistress
of ceremonies.
The price of the dinner is $4.25, which includes gratuities.
Reservations with checks payable to Mrs. June Webb, should be sent
to Mrs. Webb, Student Personnel Services, 259 Emerald Hall, by
Monday, January 17.
Civil Service representatives to visit
Students interested in consulting with U.S. Civil Service
representatives about getting a job with the service should sign up for
