There is room for 60 students in each of the three sections, ac cording to IEC director Bob Withan. ‘The prerequisites are instructor’s consent, and either a sincere interest in the educational aspects of traveling in Europe or an up coming trip to Europe,” Witham explained. “The classes will also explore social, political, and geographical considerations,” he said. “Their purpose is to give the student traveler a basis for judging his experience in Europe.” Interested students can pre-register for the classes Monday, Tuesday, and Friday of finals week in the EMU, room to be posted. I Community Tax plan on tap for City Council Lane County’s proposed “piggy-back” income tax plan will be one of the topics discussed at a public meeting of the Eugene City Council at noon today at the Eugene Hotel. County officials contend that with the lVfe per cent income tax suggested by the plan, and its provision that tax revenues be divided so that cities within the county receive 55 per cent of the money raised by the tax, the city of Eugene would receive $2.3 million. The remaining 45 per cent of the revenue would go to the county. Convicts arraigned on escape charges Two convicts who had been participants in the Oregon State Penitentiary Project NewGate program at the University were arraigned in Lane County Circuit Court Monday on charges of escape. Douglas Knapp and Garrette Wolfe were charged with illegally walking away from the program on Sept. 19. They were arrested by police and FBI agents in Grand Forks, N.D. on Oct. 6. Educational funding to be discussed "Funding for Higher Education” will be discussed tonight on KZEL-FM’s weekly Art Pearl vs. the World radio show. The program will feature John Wish of the University’s School of Business, Greg Maitby of the School of Education, John Leahy, asst. Attorney General of the State Board of Higher Education, and Richard Inmann, House minority leader. Moderators will be Phil George and Art Pearl.
