By BILL CURRY Of the Emerald “Experienced youth,” sound a little illogical? It may be, but head wrestling coach, Ron Finley, will load his line-up with just that. Last year five fresh men, two sophomores, two juniors and one senior filled the starting positions. Only Jim Ventura graduated last year. Dean Dixon, freshman stand out last year, excites everybody with his unrelenting leg ride. /Another freshman, Steve Berkey, excels mostly in his ability to throw or flip anybody that ven tures on or too close to the mat. Dixon and Berkey will be shooting for the “Super Soph” standing that Dave Luke held last year. Returning as juniors this year will be Dave Luke, and Dale Seavey, Pac-»t Champion. Senior wrestlers will be Brent Merrill at 134 lbs., and Dave Deforest at 177 lbs. Battling to find a spot or even stay alive will be the greatest selection of freshmen the wrestling team has known, thanks to Finley’s award winning recruiting last spring Randy Smith faces Dixon at 142 lbs., and Randy's brother Rooky wrestles Deforest and fellow freshman Wes Hines. Four time high school cham pion from Stanfield, Ray King, probably will head the heavyweight department as a freshman. Dwayne Stutzman, state champion, and Pat Cameron transferring from Clackamas Community College, the Oregon Junior College Champ, will be grappling at 150 lbs and 158 lbs. respectively. After one year at the Univer sity of Oregon, Ron Finley may not have the best team on the coast, hut in the future the rest of the Pac-8 teams might be on the bottom looking up. Finley won’t stop there, the National Cham pionship is still ahead Book Fair 45 7th W.
