TV collage set this weekend
This weekend, the University will be the site of a exhibition of new
concepts in television.
Visual Information Service of New York, in association with Video
Free America of San Francisco, will present five shows Friday,
Saturday and Sunday in 123 Science. Show times are 7 and 9:30 p.m. on
Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Admission will
be $1.
The University is one of only five campuses to be toured by Video
Free America this spring.
Instead of utilizing just one television screen a multi-screen,
double track video theater system will provide the environment for the
one and a half hour programming.
Works included in this presentation, entitled “For Your Viewing
Pleasure” will include THE CONTINUING STORY OF CAROL &
FERD, a documentary soap opera about a couple escaping their work
in San Francisco’s erotic film industry, and VIEDO FEEDBACK, a
collage of video graphics and electronic mandalas.
Society seeks local films
An opportunity for local filmmakers to have their films shown is
being made available through the University Film Society, as a part of
its continuing program of encouraging local film making.
The Society is looking for short films to present as a part of its
final program of the season on Sunday, May 23. The films should be by
local filmmakers and should represent their recent work, according to
Robert McCollough, secretary of the Society.
The combined running time for the films is 20 minutes. Standard
rental fees will be paid
The selected films will be shown in the University Theatre with the
feature film, “The Innocents,” which is based on the Henry James
novel, “Turn of the Screw.”
Filmmakers who are interested should get in touch with Ron
Finne by calling 747 4854

from grass roots organizations will promote the expected candidacy of
the Democratic Senator and will organize for the 1972 Oregon

Ali tickets on sale
Muhammad Ali, Muslim Minister and former world heavyweight
champion, will present a concert-lecture at the University Monday,
May 24.
Ali, formerly known as Cassius Clay, will appear in McArthur
Court at 8 p.m. under the sponsorship of the Associated Students
Cultural Forum.
Tickets, at $1.00, are on sale at the Erb Memorial Union and at
Mattox Pipe Shop.
Ali is currently under indictment for refusal to serve in the armed
forces, a position he took in 1967, claiming exemption as a religious
leader of the Black Muslims, before the presently popular anti-draft
movement. At that time he was stripped of the 1964-won title of World
Champion.
Ali won the 1960 Olympic Gold Medal in the light-heavyweight
boxing divisions. Following that he turned professional and won the
world title by defeating Sonny Liston.
His quick wit and graceful retorts have made him a popular figure
on the lecture stage.
