SAB to decide
Eachus’ status
on Wednesday
The Student Administrative
Board (SAB) will determine Ron
Eachus’ status as ASUO
President Wednesday.
1116 group’s decision will be the
final word in a controversy over
whether or not Eachus is still
head of the student body.
The SAB was assigned the
responsibility by University
President Robert Clark at a
faculty meeting earlier this
month.
The controversy over Eachus’
status began at the beginning of
this term, when EMU Director
Dick Reynolds disqualified
Eachus as an office holder.
Reynolds’ decision was in ac
cordance with faculty legislation
which set a requirement of nine
hours of study on officers who are
graduate students. Eachus had
only seven hours in the fall, as his
term was cut short by a trip to
Hanoi with a peace delegation.
However, according to ASUO
regulations, Eachus remained
qualified, having carried the
necessary six hour load. Eachus
was recognized as President by
the ASUO Senate and continued
to function in his office. The SAB
had a preliminary discussion
concerning Eachus last week,
deciding not to reach a final
decision until Wednesday.

goes to work today
The traffic gate recently in
stalled behind the EMU will be
put into operation Monday.
The gate, which will set the
parking area behind the EMU off
for visitors parking only, will be
working from 6 a m. until 9 pm.

known peace activist, will con
duct two workshops in training
for non-violent action in Eugene
today. The workshops will be held
at Newman Center, 1850 Emerald
at 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.
Lakey will give a public ad
dress sponsored by the Graduate |
Student Council at 12:30 today in
the EMU Dad’s Room. His topic
will be “Strategy for Non-Violent
Revolution and Social Change.”
