Harmon Ziegler, professor of
political science, Robert Agger,
head of the Institute of Com
parative Research, and A1
Bloom, associate professor of re
ligion, will speak. Bloom is ex
pected to make charges of stu
dent behavior at South Eugene
High School. An unidentified
school board member is also
expected to speak. The program
is being sponsored by the Citi
zens for Better Education.
“ISRAEL IN EGYPT” by
George Frederic Handel will be
presented by the complete Uni
versity voice faculty under the
direction of Royce Saltzman, the
University choral director, at 8
p.m. today and Thursday in the
School of Music Recital Hall.
The University Chorale, the
University Singers, and the
Symphony Orchestra will pre
sent the program along with the
faculty.

versity on "The Responsibilities
of the Writer” at 8 p.m. today in

Richards is one of the lan
guage experts who provided the
philosophical basis for the ‘‘New
Criticism.” He collaborated with
C. K. Ogden on “The Meaning
of Meaning.” a book published
in 1923 which has been influ
ential in several academic fields.

WALTER CREESE, dean of
the School of Architecture and
Allied Arts, has been named
one of eight persons through
out the country to receive one -
year post-doctoral research
grants for the Smithsonian In
stitution in Washington, D.C. Se
lections are made by the Amer
ican Council of Learned Socie
ties.
Creese will receive a grant of
approximately $9,500 to conduct
a study on “The Relationship of
Government and Art from Co
lonial Times to Present.” He
will use the grant during 1969
70 while on sabbatical leave
from the University.
