UNIVERSITY CO-OP CAMPAIGN RULES 1968
I. Eligibility
A. All candidates must be Co-op members.
B. One (1) freshman will be elected for a one (1)
year term.
Two (2) sophomores will be elected for two (2)
year terms.
C. All candidates must have a cumulative grade
grade point average of not less than 2.00.
II. Nominations
Any Co-op member may nominate an eligible can
didate at the annual meeting. A nominee does not
need to be present.
III. Election
Election shall be by membership card or other
satisfactory proof of Co-op membership. The date
and polling place (s) shall be anounced at the
annual meeting.
IV. Promotional Material
A. No signs shall be permitted on the buildings of
the University of Oregon, except the dormi
tories.
B. Posters may be placed in any residence hall,
subject to the approval of the particular living
organization
C. Posters may be placed on specified places in
and on the Co-op building. (Bulletin board up
stairs and downstairs, pillars on the outside,
and brickwork on the outside.) The maximum
size of poster used in and on the Co-op shall
be 14”x22’\
D. Any campaigning that violates any applicable
law shall be prohibited.
E. Posters shall not appear until the day following
the annual meeting.
No Emerald advertisements shall appear on the
day of the election.
V. Expenditures
A. Total campaign expenditures on the part of
any candidate must not exceed $40.00.
B. Each candidate shall prepare a list of expendi
tures, including reasonable estimates of the
value of donated materials. This list must be
turned in to the store manager by 5:00 p.m. of
the day before the election and must be signed
by the candidate. Successful write-in candidates
must submit their lists by noon of the following
day of the election. Candidates should be pre
pared to prove by receipt or otherwise that all
statements are accurate.
VI. Write-in Candidates
A. The first and last names must be reasonably cor
rectly spelled for a vote to be valid.
B. All write-in candidates must conform to these
rules.
VII. Withdrawals
The names of all members nominated at the an
nual meeting shall appear on the ballot unless a
written withdrawal is received by the vice-chair
man of the board or the store manager—not less
than two days before the election.
VIII. Compliance
A. Each nomineee or his agent will be furnished
with a copy of rules, the Articles of Incorpora
tion and the By-laws of the corporation at the
annual meeting or soon after.
B. AH candidates will sign a statement that binds
them to compliance with these rules, the Arti
cles of Incorporation, and the By-laws of the
corporation. This statement must be received
by the vice-chairman of the board of the store
manager not less than two days before the elec
tion Successful write-in candidates will have
until noon of the day following the election.
IX. Disqualification
A candidate may be disqualified by a vote of 5
members ot the Board of Directors for infractions
committed by himself or anyone acting on his be
half.
