Publish Books
Two University faculty mem
bers, Charles E. Johnson and
Francis J. Reithel, have recently
published books which are ex
pected to become widely used col
lege texts.
■‘Accounting” by Johnson and
two other college professors, and
"Concepts in Biochemistry” by
Reithel, were released last month
by McGraw-Hill Book Company.
Johnson’s book, the first in a
three-volume series in account
ing. is a second edition of a book
first published in 1962 which has
become one of the major college
accounting textbooks.
A professor of accounting and
Dean of the College of Liberal
Arts at Oregon. Johnson wrote
the 900-page text along with Wal
ter Meigs of the University of
Southern California.
Dr. Reithel’s book, “Concepts
of Biochemistry,” is distinguish
ed by a number of unique fea
tures. including photographs of
three-dimensional models and
bibliographies appended to each
section.
Kentucky Group
Asks Program Head
The Jackson County Commu
nity Group, Inc., a poor people's
corporation in East Kentucky,
needs an imaginative social-poli
tical organizer to run their coun
ty-wide community information
centers program.
The pay goes to $650 per month.
The program is operated
through grants from the Office of
Economic Opportunity and has
30 employees.

Members Retire
Four University faculty mem

141 years, have announced plans
to retire this spring.
They are George Hopkins, pro
fessor of music; Miss Janet G
Woodruff, professor of physical
education: Miss Brownell Frasier,
associate professor of interior de j
sign. School of Architecture and ;
Allied Arts; and Mrs. Emma S |
Wright, senior acquisitions li
brarian.
Hopkins has been at the School!
of Music since its beginning 46 |
years ago, and Miss Woodruff
has been associated with the de
partment of physical education
for women for 38 yeaijs.
Miss Frasier has guided the
development of interior design
curriculum for nearly 40 years,
making her program nationally
known.
Mrs. Wright came to the Uni
versity as a reference librarian
in 1946.
Group Seeks Relief
For Indian Drought
Members of the faculty, stu
dents. and citizens are going to
meet Sunday in the SU Ballroom
tc discuss the grave situation in
India brought about by a serious
drought for the second consecu
tive year.
They feel the situation in the
State of Bihar is particularly
grave and this meeting calls on
all individuals to send their con
tributions to the Bihar Famine
Relief Committee, Eugene, 2290-3
