    Homecoming Queen Hopefuls Await Election
HOMECOMING HOPEFULS await verdict of
Tuesday's election in which one will be elected
Homecoming Queen 1966. iFrom left) Marie
Ruby is a junior from Lake Oswego and a
member of Delta Gamma. Her campus activi
ties include Alpha Lambda Delta. Sweetheart
of Sigma Chi Court. Dolphin Court. Informa
tion Officer at International Education Center,
and volunteer worker at Sacred Heart Hospi
tal. Pam Day is also a junior, from Warrenton,
and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Campus
activities include Frosh 200, Little Colonel.
Angel Flight, Alpha Lambda Delta. Theta
Sigma Phi, SU Personnel Committee, and Frosh
Snowball Decoration Committee. Marty Bullard
is a junior from Medford and a resident of Cas
well Hall. She is a transfer student from the
University of the Pacific. Her campus activities
include University Singers and Social Commit
tee in Caswell. Jeanne Pederson is a junior
from Salem and a member of Kappa Kappa
Gamma. Her campus activities include Delta
Chi Pushcart Queen, Sigma Phi Epsilon Swamp
Stomp Court, and Dolphin Court. Vnl Thom is
a junior from Albany and a member of Alpha
Omieron Pi. Her campus activities include
Alpha Lambda Delta, Kwama, Phi Theta, and
Angel Flight Secretary. Homecoming activities
run next week, Tuesday through Saturday, with
coronation of the queen Saturday night.
Flemming to Hold Leadership Dinner
University President Arthur S.
Flemming is holding a dinner for
student leaders at 6 p.m. Mon
day at the Eugene Hotel.
The purpose of the dinner is
to hear the ideas of student lead
ers. Flemming will give a short
talk, and then hold a discussion
session.
Those invited are student body
officers, class officers, house pres
idents, dorm counselors and pres
idents, committee members, publi
cation heads, and others who hold
positions that are considered po
sitions of leadership.

facing the Air Force:

1. Repairs In space. If something goes
wrong with a vehicle in orbit, how con it
be fixed? Answers must be found, if large
scale space operations ore to become a
reality. For this and other assignments Air
Force scientists and engineers will be
colled on to answer in the next few years,
we need the best brains available.
2. Lunar landing. The

be done—and, as on Air Force officer,
you could be the one to do it!
3. Life-support biology. The filling of
metabolic needs over very extended peri
ods of time in space is one of the most
fascinating subjects that
Air Force scientists are in
vestigating. The results
promise to have vital ram
ifications for our life on
earth, as well as in outer
space.
4. Span orientation. The orbital prob
lems of a spacecraft, including its ability
to maneuver over selected points on the
earth, are of vital importance to the mili
tary utilization of space. There are plenty
of assignments for young Air Force physi
cists in this area.
5. Synergetic plane changing. The ;UI.
ity of a spacecraft to change altitude con
also be crucial to space operations. Where

ects right ct the start of their careers?
6. Space propulsion. A< our
space flights cover greeter
