Ducks Prepare for High Flying Falcons
Oregon’s Bucks concentrated
on polishing their short pass de
fense during Wednesday’s drills
in preparation for Saturday's con
test with defensive minded Air
Force at Colorado Springs.
The Falcons are rated among
the top twenty Associated Press
teams in the nation and boast a
3-1 record with wins over Hawaii.
Washington, and- Navy.
Oregon is 1-3.
Coining off last Saturday's 7-3
upset over Stanford, the Ducks
are’ faced with the task of pene
trating the stingy Falcon defense
which has allowed a mere 20
points.
Offensively the Falcon’s strength
lies in their gassing, and inside
running. “They utilize their short
passing very well.’' said defensive

Coach Chapman has found at least
one surprise. Larry Rust from

Chapman expects a good season
from the Ducklings, if they can
avoid any more injuries to key
personnel. Joe Phillips, David
Douglas line standout, and local
grid performer. South Eugene’s
Scott Ferguson, have been hob
bled by injuries.
The freshman football program,
as outlined by Chapman, is gear
ed toward orienting the boys
to Oregon football methods, and
preparation for spring football
1067. The main objective of fresh
man ball players is to be academi
cally available to return for their
sophomore year, according to
Chapman

program requires only about half
as much time as a varsity ball

played since Oregon's opener with

Slated to return to the Oregon
lineup Saturday is tight end Steve
Reina, who has not played since
scoring 14 points against Utah
two games ago.
Reina may have a rough time
breaking back into the starting
lineup again. Casanova has indi
cated that Lynn Hendrickson will
get the call against Air Force.
Hendrickson set up Oregon's
touchdown against Stanford when
he wrestled a defender for a de
flected pass and was awarded a
reception on the 10 yard line.

Ducks spent Tuesday working on
fundamentals and familiarizing
On IM Schedule
The once-postponed Delta Chi
Delta Tau Delta intramural foot
ball game has been rescheduled
for Friday on Field 2, the IM of
fice announced Wednesday.
There will also be a meeting of
all IM managers that afternoon
in the IM office to draw for the
football playoffs scheduled for
next week.
Friday also is the last day of
the regular intramural schedule,
and only one team in each of the
14 divisions will be allowed to
advance into the playoffs.
