on stage and screen this weekend If you plan to play by watching
others do it for you. 8
Lillian Heilman’s "The Children’s Hour’’ is finishing up on the
University Theatre’s stage at 8 p.m tonight and Saturday night
The drama of suspected lesbianism will cost $1.50 per person to see'
"The Ballad of Stephen Martyr" will offer a study in the rela
tionship of heroes in fools in the Arena Theatre of Villard Hall
tonight at 8 p m. and Saturday at 2 p m There will be no admission
charge to the performance of this play by John Dashncy. a izraduate
in creative writing at the University.
Etcetera Production’s production of Lewis Carroll’s "Alice in
Wonderland" starts in the King Cole Room of the Eugene Hotel
this Sunday at 3 p.m. and again on June 12 at the same time. Tickets
will be $1 and may be purchased at the door or by calling 344-7544.
FELLINI FEATURED
The award winning Fellini film "La Dolce Vita" will be presented
by Los Amigos at 7 p m. Tuesday in 150 Science. The benefit showing
of the film will cost 75 cents a person Money gains from the presen
tation will help finance a Los Amigos trip to Mexico this summer
for the purpose of bettering community development there.
Of course there will be movies that will be playing off campus, too.
At the McDonald the comedy team of Martin Allen-Stcve Rossi
makes its screen debut in "The Last of the Secret Agents?”. The
pair satirize the satires on the satires of the satire of the Bond
products by trying to put an end to THEM, an international crime
syndicate (of course) that is especially criminal In its desires to
appropriate art treasures.
Playing along with this little big farce is another story of the
Little Big Horn Joseph Gotten plays General Custer in "The Great
Sioux Massacre."
BOND BROUGHT BACK
The Eugene Drive In has decided to bring back "Thunderball.”
The Sean Connery epic co-plays with a civil war adventure, "Invita
tion to a Gunflghter," starring Yul Brenner, Janice Rule, and George
Segal.
Doris Day and Rod Taylor star in "Do Not Disturb" now at the
Fox.
Along with this color comedy is another but older one, "Goodbye
Charlie," which passes Debbie Reynolds off as a lecher reincarnated
as a sexpot. Tony Curtis and Pat Boone vie for his/her affections.
"X" MARKS THE MOTHER
John Forsythe defends Lana Turner as "Madame X," playing
through Saturday at the Hciiig.
( o playing is "Dark Intruder,” a mystery because no one seems to
know a thing about the movie.
Alfred Hitchcock’s old "North by Northwest" thriller with Cary
Grant and Eva Marie Saint starts Sunday at the Heilig.
Western fare rides again at the McKenzie when Maureen O'Hara
bumps into a little opposition in trying to introduce Hereford cattle
in Texas where the Texas longhorn is powerfully dominant in "The
Rare Breed." James Stewart also stars.
