Mrs. Victor P. Morris, well I
known lecturer in Oregon his-1
tory, will accompany the histori- j
cal tours, and point out other'
sites of historical Interest as well;
as Information ubout the specific !
locations whicli will be visited.
The first chartered bus tour, j
May 11, will include u visit to the
boyhood home of Herbert Hoover
— the present Minthorn House in
Newberg and to the Portland
mansion of Henry Pittock, pub
lisher of the Oregonian Publish-!
ing Company for many years.
A personal friend of former j
President Hoover, Hurt Brown
Barker, will conduct the tour of!
the Minthorn House Barker, vice1
president emeritus of the Uni
versify, was responsible for the
restoration of tills historical land
mark.
The famous residence of John !
McCoughlin, head of the Hudson's i
Hay Company in the early days of;
Oregon history, will be toured i
during the May 14 tour. That tour j
group will also visit Chnmpoegl
State Park and the adjacent resi
dence of Robert Newell, Oregon
pioneer and fur trapper who was'
prominent in the state's provi-1
sional government.
James Hickman, graduate as- ■
sistant in biology at the Univcr
sily will conduct a field trip on
May 21 to explore some of the
trees, shrubs, and plants in the
Cascades.
All interested persons are eli
gible to participate, although the
number of participants in each
tour will lie limited A registra
tion fee of $7 covers bus fare,
and admission charges to the Me
Coughlin House and the Newell
House.

For Oregon Libraries
Aii inventory of academic li
brary buildings or additions in
Oregon which have* been com
pleted since January 1, 1960, or
which are now under construction
shows nine projects with a total
cost of §7,480,108.
Results of the inventory were
released by the State Sponsoring
Committee for National Library
Week, scheduled April 17 to 23.
Projects listed included: Cen

McMinnville, $300,000; Multno
mah School of the Bible, Portland.

and the University, $2,100,000.
In addition, the inventory
showed 20 Oregon academic li-_
brary building projects which are
in the planning stages. Institu
