Ersted Award Nominations Due Next Monday
Muaents arc now being en
couraged to make nominations
for the Ersted Awards, presented
annually to outstanding young
teachers at the University.
Two such awards—$1,000 each
—are given annually at the Uni
versity.
Monday is the deadline for
nominations, and students are
urged to nominate their favorite
teachers for the award as soon as
possible.
Nominations should consist of
the names of teachers being nom
inated and the reasons why the
students think they should receive
the award.
These should be turned in to
Don DuShane, dean of students.
207 Emerald Hall, on or before
Monday.
DuShane has emphasized that
the nominations require no anal
ysis of the teachers, only their
names und reasons for the nomi
nation.
Previous winners of the award
are not eligible for another. Pre
vious winners at the University

copf, Stanley Greenfield, Bernd
Ornsemann, Paul Dull, Lucian
Marquis, John llulteng, George
Streisingen and Stanley Pierson.
The awards were started eight
years ago by A. J. Ersted, to on
courage and reward "distinguish
ed and spirited teaching" by fac
ulty members.
Accumulated interest on the
funds has made possible the giv
ing of two awards. Before 1903,
only one award wus given.
