University Choir
Sets Performance
Music from the Renaissance
will be performed by the Uni
versity Chamber Choir, directed
by Neil Wilson, in a concert at
8 p.m. Sunday, in the School of
Music auditorium.
Featured on the program will
be madrigal and lute songs typi
cal of Elizabethan and Jacobean
music, three unaccompanied duets
of Orlando di Lasso, and Bach’s
"Jesu, Meine Freude.”
The Chamber Choir will also
perform two selections from "Fes
tino,” a madrigal comedy by Ban
chieri.
Another work which will be
presented is "L’Aloutte,” an ex
ample of several pieces which
made Clement Janequin one of
the most popular composers of
the 16th century.
Solo artists who will perform
with the chorale during the Sun
day program are Guy Aydelott,
tenor; Ralph Towner, lute and
guitar: Jill Hardin, and Sandra
Olsen, both sopranos: and Sylvia
Thelen, and Howard Kennett.

companions to halt the automo

The furor nearly broke up a
meeting of the Young Republi
cans in the SU. The meeting had
to be called to order, and several
members of the audience left the
meeting to get in on the fun.
Dormitory counselors broke up
the congregation just as it reach
ed the Onyx entrance to the SU.
"Looks like I might have a few
visitors in my office tomorrow,"
said Dick Rapp, graduate in law
and advisor to the Minor Court
“Something should be done
about it," said a head resident,
slowly shaking her head as she
watched the crowd break up from
iu front of Morton Hall.
“Well, it keeps the draft boards
happy if we kick a few of ’em
out,” Rapp joked
“They should be kicked out if
they haven't got anything else to
do," the head resident replied.
She would make no comment
about what disciplinary action
would be taken on the matter.
Apparently the courts will be un
able to do anything unless formal
complaints are filed.
And somehow, that doesn't
seem too likely. After all, it’s
spring.

Jeanne Pinkerton was recently
elected president of the Wom
en’s Recreation Association. Miss
Pinkerton has been vice president
during the past year.

His Short Story
David Madden, assistant editor
of the arts and letters quarterly,
Kenyon Review, will read his
short story, "The Singer,” at 4
p.m. today in the Student Union.
"The Singer” recently appeared
in the Kenyon Review.
He is here to attend the pre
miere performance of the final
version of his play, “Cassandra
Singing.”
The author and playwright has
won contests and awards through
out the nation. He has published
plays, short stories, poetry, es
says and reviews.
