    Student Thief Convicted,
Dorm Raid Re-Hashed
A student charged with theft, a
violation of section I.B.2.f. under
the Conduct Code, was found
guilty by Student Court in a
closed session yesterday.
The student had allegedly tak
en some ceramic articles from the
“Pot Shop,” a ceramics room in
Lawrence Hall. The Court sus
pended the student for the re
mainder of fall term. The stu
dent will be eligible for readmit
tance next term, however, ac
cording to Greg Reed, special as
sistant to the Student Conduct
program.
Art Tarlow, a third year law
student, represented the defen
dant at the Court session.
In another case handled by the
Court yesterday, a former stu
dent was tried in absentia for vio
lation of section I.B.3.C., raiding
of University-related living units.

ing which took place last spring
term in Carson Hall. According
to their reports, the violation con
cerned a group of students from
DeBusk Hall. However, only one,
the defendant, was identified.
Reed reported that he had
spent a number of hours trying
to find out who the other mem
bers of the raiding party were,
with no success.
Migrant Labor
To Plan Work
There will be two meetings
for all students interested in
the Migrant Labor Project to
day: 4 p.m. and at 7 p.m. in
the SU. Plans for two work
parties in migrant labor camps
on Saturday, Oct. 23, and Sun
day, Oct. 31, will be discussed.
These work parties, which will
do painting, building and re
pair work at the camp, will
leave the SU at 6:30 a.m. and
will return at approximately 8
p.m.

The Court found the defendant
guilty. However, since the per
son is not attending the Univer
sity this term, the Court will im
pose a sanction of disciplinary
probation on the defendant when
ever he returns as a student.
Blood Bank
The Lane Memorial Blood Bank
needs the following types of
blood for its special account which
serves the faculty, students and
j staff of the University.
Donor hours are 1:30 to 4 p.m
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday,
and by appointment from 3 to
7 p.m. Friday. The Blood Bank
is located at 790 E. 11th Ave.,
next to the Mayflower Theater.

Officer to Give 'Draft Facts'
Col. John H. Nielson will speak
on “The Facts About Military De
ferments'' at 1 p.m. today in the
SU Ballroom. After his speech
Col. Nielson will answer any
questions.
The colonel was born in Med
ford and attended college at
Southern Oregon College and the
University. He enlisted in t h e
Cosmos to Honor
United Nations
The Cosmopolitan Club will
have an evening of entertainment
at 8 p.m. Saturday in the SU
Ballroom. Honoring the United
Nations, the entertainment will
feature dances by foreign stu
dents in their native costumes.

turned to the United States for

Col. Nielson lias been the re
cipient of the Combat Infantry
Badge, the Bronze Star, and the
Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was appointed to his pres
ent position in 1053.
