FUN ON THE MILLRACE
That winding stream that you will see
across Franklin Boulevard, running past
the Physical Plant, under the roadway and
along the row of Greek houses on E. 11th
Ave. is known as the Millrace, and it’s part
of a long tradition at the University.
The busiest time at the Millrace is in
May, when the campus living organizations
build colorful floats for the annual Canoe
Fete, part of the Junior Weekend activities.
Each year thousands of persons view the
unique spectacle.
But other activities also take place on the
Millrace in the spring. Some coeds like to
try canoeing; others are caught up in the
spirit of things as they partake of another
time-honored tradition, appropriately
known as “Millracing.”
