    MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNERS—Paul Schlicke and Harlan An
drews, the latter a former North Eugene track star, will perform
for Stanford when the Indians face Oregon at Hayward Field, Sat
urday. Schlicke will run the two mile, while Andrews will chal
lenge Oregon’s Wade Bell in the mile event.

FIRST NCAA TITLE
Oregon won the first NCAA
basketball title in 1939, beating
Oklahoma 55-37 in the semi
finals. and topping Ohio State,
46-33 in the finals.
