County Park. Fern Ridge.
The events include slalom and
exhibition (events of sanctioned
tournaments), and belly race and
inner tube race.
Living organizations can enter
one “craft” in the inner tube
race. The craft may consist of one
or more inner tubes As many
people as wished may provide the
propulsion.

The boats which will be used
in the tournament competition
will be on display outside the
SU today.
Eliminations in the slalom will
start at 8:30 a m. The exhibition
event will begin after the conclu
sion of the slalom eliminations.
Those two events will be fol
lowed by a brief intermission,
then the inner tube and belly
races. The slalom finals will start
in the early afternoon.
Oregon State and Portland
State Colleges will also be rep
resented.
Trophies will be awarded in
men’s and women’s slalom and
tricks plus the inner tube race
and the belly race. Trophies for
the first three places in each
event will be awarded by Mary
Lou. Sievers, Miss Eugene.
Entries can be picked up at
room 301 SU or by contacting
living organization representa
tives. Entry lists must be turned
in by 5 p.m. Friday.

A 4-Minute Mile?
Burleson to Try
Oregon track fans will get
their first chance of the year to
see Dyrol Burleson run today.
At 5:30 p m, at Hayward Held
Burleson will attempt to run the
mile in under four minutes. His
coach. Bill Bowerman. said that
if the weather is good he is sure
Burleson can run under four
minutes.
Opposition will probably come
from the Oregon freshman track
team and Emerald Empire Athlet
ic Assn runners.
Since it requires at least three
events to have a meet there will
be at least two other events For
any record to be approved, it
must be set in a meet.
Burleson, the former Oregon
distance runner, is the reigning
AAU mile champ. He is the fourth
fastest miler in history with an
all-time best 3:56 0.
Burleson also holds the Ore
gon record in the mile with a
3:57.6 and the school two-mile
record with an 8:42.5.
No admission will be charged,
but donations to the Olympic
fund will be asked for.
