French Painter
Rediscovery of one of France’s
greatest painters, Delacroix, will
be discussed by Lucile Golson of
the School of Architecture and
Allied Arts at 4 p.m. today in
106 Lawrence.
The address, one of the win-!
ter term series of AAA Faculty
lectures, is open to the public.
Delacroix, who dominated the
19th century in art, is acknowl
edged today as great master of
color and composition. Painters as
different as Matisse and Picasso
have recognized his influence on |
their development.
Miss Golson will present as
pects of the forgotten Delacroix,
including a discussion of the il
lustrations he made for Goethe
and Shakespeare editions, reli
gious paintings, and murals for |
government buildings in Paris.
