    Arts Committee Schedules
Films, Exhibits, Workshops
“Renaissance Architecture” will
be the subject of the second film
in this year’s art film lecture sc
ries, sponsored by the SU Arts
committee.
Films this term will deal with
the Renaissance, more specifically,
with artists such as El Greco and
Simons Martini. Winter”term will
concentrate on the 18th and 10th
centuries and spring term, tenta
tively, with architecture.
Courses, Flms Correlated
Jeri Lynn Coney of the SU j
Arts committee is organizing this
series partly in conjunction with
art. history courses offered in the
School of Architecture and Allied
Arts. She explained that the
program will at least partially
parallel the subject matter of
those courses.
Miss Coney said that she hopes
to he able to have an interested
professor lead a discussion after
each fdm showing.

To Speak Tuesday
Carey Mc Williams, editor of the
Nation magazine will speak Tues
day on "Ethics in an Affluent So
ciety."
McWilliams, for many years a
student of minority groups, labor
and agriculture, is the author of
several books and has contribut
ed articles to such magazines as
the Atlantic, Harpers, Saturday
Review, and the New Republic.
The Nation is the oldest jour
nal of political comment in this
country. McWilliams joined the
staff of that magazine in 1945
and became editor in 1955
McWilliams’ books include “A
Mask for Privilege," "Prejudice,"
"Brothers Under the Skin," and
"Witchhunt: the Revival of Here
sy."
A graduate of the University
of Southern California, the edi
tor practiced law until 1938

on Nov. 21. Participants will re- i
ceivo instruction in operating the
silk screen equipment.
Miss Coney said that she hopes
to have more exhibits of student
art this year in preference to
work hy local artists not connect
ed with the University. She hopes
to present several exhibits of
student MSA degree projects!
from the area of Allied Arts.
The committee is hoping to
have displays of student art ex
hibited in the coffee shop in the
basement of the SU. Miss Coney
said that she will display as much j
work as students submit.
Hours Announced
For Art Museum
Art lovers will have to adjust
their moments of appreciation
this term, because the art mu
seum has announced a new
schedule of hours.
The museum will he open Wed
nesday, Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., and on
Tuesday and Thursday from 11
a m. to 5 pm. The museum is
closed Monday.
The Rental Sales Gallery, spon
sored by the Friends of the Mu
seum, and operated by the Eu
gene Junior Service League, is
now open Tuesday and Thursday
from 11 a m. to 3 p.m.
