form the society to prevent ex
treme middle-of-the-road groups
from infiltrating University stu
dent organiaztions.
In a joint statement presidents
of the Young Communists and
Young Fascists Youth Croups an
nounced, "We are playing both
ends against the middle."
YOUNG Birchcrs chairman
joined the College Americans of
Democratic Action in a statement
which said, "We have nothing to
fear but fear itself unless it’s
the extreme middle."
"Neither the extreme right or
the extreme left can do as much
damage as the extreme middle
of the rouder This leads to out
right surrender," ASUO Senator

The Side May Be Saved
SU May Be Traded For It

Informed sources close to the
SU and Co-op Hoards told the
Emerald yesterday that the Side
can be saved after all.
The Co-op Hoard has decided
a/ter mature consideration that
they will need more space than
the 1100 sq feet they would gain
by using the Side Building.
They feel that about 5,000,000
s<j. feet would houcc their new
collection of overpriced text
books. This area is about the size
of the SU, including the new ad
dition, the Oregana office, and
the SU Board Chairman’s office.
Because of this re-evaluation,
the co-op board has decided that
the SU would make a much bet
ter addition.
Two additional reasons cited by
this informed source are that (1)
no tearing down or remodeling
would have to be done, /6nd 12)
the SU is more centrally located
than the old coop buildings.
THE NEW plan would allow the
University to take over the pres
ent Co-op buildings. The Coop
building on 13th would be used
as an under-21 soda bar. and the
Co-op building on Kincaid, being
outside the dry zone, will be
come an over 21 hangout.

we are afraid kids will get him
mixed up with Lloyd Bridges

be confused with anyone."
Estes, who is a leading figure
in politics, business, and penal

available for an engagement at
the University for some time,
