Military musicians to present concert
The United States Air Force
Band and Singing Sergeants will
hold a concert Monday evening
at 8 p.m. in McArthur Court.
THE BAND LS UNDER the
direction of Col. George S. How
ard. Col. Howard is known in
music circles through contacts
made on tour with the band. His
group has performed in most of
the world's capitals.
Featured in the concert will be
famous soloists along with the
well-known choral group, the
Singing Sergeants, under the di
rection of Capt. Robert L. Lan
ders.
THE BAND is being brought to
Eugene under the auspices of the
Erb Memorial Student Union
Board.
Members of the United States
Air Force Band have been termed
"Goodwill Ambassadors." It has
been said that they are doing
“more good with their good play
ing and courteous manner than
could be done by a bundle of
propaganda pamphlets.”

at the door. Admission for re
served seats is $2.00. General
admisison will be $1.50 for adults
and $1 for students.

gram in faculty evaluation. Doug
Greer, committee chairman, said
that “since the students are the
consumers, they should be able
to evaluate the product.”
THE EVALUATION program
would probably include a ques
tionnaire circulated to students
in the course evaluating the term,
or the year’s presentation and
value of course material. It has
proved successful in a few classes
which use such a program. The
committee stated, “At present
there is only one-way faculty
student communication, namely
faculty to student. This would
change the communication to the
opposite direction.”
The possibility of changing the
advisor program was suggested,
in that the dorm counselors would
be responsible for aiding fresh
men with their initial schedules
and that department consent be
given on schedules. Later, ad
visers would have more time to
discuss programs with the new
students, thus promoting a more
personal relationship between
student and advisor than is now
gained in the five to ten minute
sessions held during registration.
IT WAS SUGGESTED that the
dorm counselors be given train- '
ing in academic counseling during
the week before registration
begins, and that advisors be given
credit for publication and re
search.
Members of the committee will
study the scope of the racial dis
crimination problem in off-cam
pus housing before making reconjf
mendations.
