Flamenco Guitarist Carlos Montoya to present concert in SU Monday Carlos Montoya, acclaimed as the world's foremost Flamenco guitarist, will appear at a con ert in the 8U Ballroom, Monday j night at 8:30. Montoya has been called one j of the few masters of the guitar who is able to devote an entire 'Racers to Sun' termed 'moving' “Racers to the Sun,” a novel by Jarres B. Hall, associate pro 'essor of English at the Univer lity, recently received a by-line -eview in the Los Angeles Times. Reviewing the book was Wirt Williams, Sunday book editor for the Times. Williams called the -.ovel "Dramatic, explosive . . ind "one of the intense reading ; experiences of 1960.” Imhis opin on, the book would make Hall known to the public. Williams discussed the plot of he novel, which concerns a high school senior who turns to the •vorld of speed through motorcy le racing, calling it a “clean ined, relentlessly moving story.” The main character, Harold '■dill, is described by Williams as ‘a comer.” His girlfriend Gunner, also a motorcyclist, is "one of the sharpest of the 20th century's 'allery of fictional witches.” Williams compared “Racers to ‘.he Sun” to William Faulkner's ‘Pylon” saying that it "has the rame vivid, surrealistic vision,” ! but Williams also says “this book ’an stand beside ‘Pylon’ with no apology at all.'' evening to Flarrenco music.
