Stic* < .oss, sophomore education major, announced her
pinning to Karl llaag, a sophomore liistory education major
on hehruary 15th, with the passing of a pink candle adorned
v. itli pink rosebuds, llaag is a member of Alpha Tau Omega.
Tim unveiling of a cake decorated with wedding hells and
the names of senior biology major Dianne McKrola and
I have I’arkin, a senior in pre-med, announced their engage
ment January 11th. I’arkin is a member of I’hi Gamma Delta.
'J he couple plan to he married March 19th.

I lie passing of a small white basket of spring flowers, a
variation on the traditional candle, told of the pinning of
senior history major Karen Mauney and Tom Creager, a
senior in pre-dentistry, on January 29th. Creager is affiliated
with I’hi Della Theta.
Sophomore pre-journalism major Kay Perry announced
her pinning to Jack Mattison, a sophomore in geology, with
the passing of a heart constructed of pink carnations. The
pin was hidden in the flowers. Mattison is a member of
I’.eta I beta Pi at Oregon State College. The announcement
w as marie February 8th. .
A telegram read at a dinner February 22nd told of the
pinning of junior F.nglish literature major Linda Worm aid
to Jim Hollister, a junior in pre-law. Hollister is affiliated
u ith Phi Delta Theta.

I he passing of a white candle decorated with white carna
tions and violets February 22nd announced the pinning of
sophomore art major Carole Belt and Jim Wamslev, a sopho
vtorc in business. Wamsley is a member of Phi Gamma
Delta.

Freshman pre-med major Patti Murphy announced her
p.lining to Mick Barnhart, a senior in business, on March
«vth with the passing of a white candle adorned with white I
carnations, baby red roses, and tiny pearl hearts. Barnhart
i> a member of Sigma Xu.
University House
An August wedding is planned by Sharon Ellison, a gradu
ate student majoring in drawing and painting, and William
Cowherd, an employee of the I,infield Research Institute in
McMinnville. The engagement was announced March 6th.
Cowherd is a resident of Gladstone, Oregon.

Little Captain selected
by Pershing Rifles
Sharon Gearheart was named
Honorary Little Captain of the
I960 Pershing Rifles at the an
nual ball Friday evening in Ger
linger. Included in the court of
finalists were Kaben Foote, Bar
bara Tillmans, Marnez Wellman,
Joni Rurnsey, Carol Lewis and
Sally Christiansen.
- The new Little Captain, a fresh
man from Oswego, took over her
official duties from 1959 Little
Captain Sandy Higgins, Thursday
at drill. The court then watched a
competition between the second
and third platoons of the drill
team.
Miss Gearheart will serve as
hostess for the drill society and
will inspect the troops. She will
also attend many of the PR's so
cial function? and drill compe
titions. •
