Belko, Brittingham
Agreement Reached
Georg** Brittlngham ar. i roach
Steve Belko reached an agree*
merit h rlday about EriUing
ham'ii proposal that four reserve
basketball players he added to
the hat of letter-winners by Bel
ko.
Thursday night at the A8UO
Senate meeting, Britt Ingham
said that the four George Pado
van, Jerry Anderson, Paul Tuch
ardt, and Otis Davis should be
awarded letters since their play
ing tune totals were nearly equal
to one of the seven letter-win
ners.
At the time. Senator Bud Titus
{minted out that the letter-win
ners who perhaps had the least
amount of playing time had been
injured and probably would have
played touch more if he had not
been hurt.
Friday, it was pointed out that
"Wimp" Hastings had been side
lined for a month and would prob
ably have played much more oth
erwise; that George Padovan had
been released from the team for
disciplinary reasons; and that
Anderson, Tuchardt, and Davis
hud not played enough minutes
to la- eligible for a letter.
At the Senate meeting. Brit
tingham, graduate representative
said, “Bclko was available to tell
the press that the 1958 Oregon
team was one of the rnoie in
ferior he had coached." Britting
ham said Sunday that he and
Art Pitchman, athletic publicity
director, discovered Friday that
a sports columnist had noted that

Dobby is a long standing Fel

Society in London, a member of
the American Geographic So
ciety, and also the Royal Insti
tute of International Affairs, in
London.
Paul L. Kleinsorge, professor
of economics, will lead the dis
cussion after the lecture.
Dobby was largely responsible
for the report that brought about
the establishment of a Polytech
nic in Singapore in 1953-54.
Brlko had said that th<:_ 1958
squad had been inferior to the
; previous year's team in .some re
spect. There was not a direct
quite from the coach, however.
Brittingham told the Emerald
Sunday night that he still thinks
that more letters should have
been awarded this season, pro
portionately, since the Webfoots
had a better won-loss record. He
said tliut he will continue to sup
port Ins contention, and that the
Seriate ought to look into the
ietter-awarding situation.
