'Limelight/ Starring Chaplin Is Best Film Showing Now By Dave Sherman Amusement Pege Editor “Limelight." a replay of Char lie Chaplin’s film seen two years ago on campus, is by far the best film showing this weekend. Chaplin plays Calvero, a mu sic hall comedian around the time of the first world war. He helps a ballet dancer who claims she can no longer walk. She be comes a great star while he be comes a street entertainer. Included in the film are too few scenes of Chaplin’s famous vaudeville skits. He plays the “tramp" hejs so famous for, does a flea routine, and teams up with Buster Keaton in a violin act which is one of the high-points of the show. Ballet Sequence Many will recognize the “Terry’s Theme” from the show, to which Claire Bloom dances in one of the ballet sequences. The film is almost a one-man show — Chaplin produced, directed, stars, composed the music and j choreographed it. Also playing with Limelight is an early Alfred Hitchcock thriller. “The Lady Vanishes.” The “theatre season” in Eu gene got off to a roaring start with the Very Little Theatre pro duction of "Charley’s Aunt.” Featured in the show is Bruce Holt, seen on campus in “Ber nardine” and “Captive at Large” last year.
