Tryouts to Be Held
For 'Pennypacker'
Tryouts for the first show of
the 1955-56 University Theatre
season, "The Remarkable Mr.
Pennypacker." will be held Mon
day. Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sept. 26. 27 and 28, in the main
auditorium of the University
Theatre.
Daniel Krempel. director, lias
announced that he is looking for
youthful types as well as char
acter actors, and will also'need
several girls w ho have had soon
ballet experience. Tryouts are
open to all University students.
Band, Choral Activities
Open for All Students
Music school activities, which
include band, chorus and orches
tra, are open to all students
on campus and one term-hour's
credit may be obtained from par
ticipation in each.
Students interested in band
should contact R. S. Vagner, di
rector. in Music building 111, or
assistant director i. D. Lee. old
music building 101.
High school band experience
will be considered in making se
lections. with tryouts to be held
in some instances. Students in
terested should contact the direc
tors before September 23.
Included under choral groups
are the Choral Union, University
Singers and Madrigal Singers.
The choral union will present
Monart's “Requiem" in connec
tlon with the Mozart Festival,
(luring winter and .spring terms
Previous experience with high
school choral work Is enrollment
requirement. Non-music major
should contact M. D. HI singer.

The University Singers Is a
concert group, which will present
concerts both on and off campus,
as Well as hold an annual tour.
Auditions are membership prerc
uuisite, and Risinger should be
contacted. .
Madrigal Singers is a small en
semble which performs madrigals
and folk songs. Risinger is also
in charge of this group.
The orchestra and other
smaller ensembles are open to
qualified students. Director is
George Boughton, Music 2(H.
