(AP Wirephoto) John Jensen Receives Award from Theater John Jensen was named out standing senior in drama and re cipient of the first annual Le Jeune W. Griffith award at the Theatre Awards banquet Wed nesday. Jensen, a senior in speech, was also awarded a neut for his role of Mattern in “Hannele.” The LeJeune W. Griffith award is sponsored by Mrs. Griffith, a former business manager of UT, She graduated from the Univer sity with a journalism degree in 1948 and became business man ager of UT when they moved into their present building in 1949. She is now editor of the National Chinchilla Breeders’ Association magazine in Salt Lake City. Chorography, Dancing Jensen was seen this year as a dancer in “Kiss Me, Kate,” for which he was co-choreographer, together with Gloria Lee. He de signed and painted the sets for “The Contrast” as well as super vising the painting for main stage shows last year. In addition to "Kiss Me, Kate,” Jensen choreographed “Blood Wedding” and worked with Bar bara Johnson on choreography for “One Touch of Venus.’’ He received a supporting actor award for his role of Death in “Even-the Gods" in 1953, and has appeared in “Henry IV, Part 1,” “Juno and the Paycock,” “Rich ard Second,” and "Theatre Ex citement," for the last two years. Director, Manager He was assistant director for “Death of a Salesman" and co stage manager for “Brigadoon.” During his freshman year he was a member of the stage crew for the main stage productions. Jensen will go to Saratoga Springs this summer as head de signer for the theatre. He has been there for the last two sum mers as assistant to the designer. Last summer he achieved mem bership in Actor’s Equity As sociation.
