Sling-shot Prank
Injures UO Coed
A six-foot sling-shot mounts)
on an old model auto catapulted
eight University of Oregon stu
dents into the arms of the law
Monday.
The students, names withheld,
decided to test their "weapon”
as they drove past the Alpha Phi
house. They fired a water-filled
balloon fiYwn the slingshot and it
crashed through a window. Caro
lyn Heckman, sophomore in lib
eral arts suffered a minor cut
from the flying glass.
Eugene police persuaded the
students to dismantle their ‘‘ar
tillery’’ and no charge were pre
ferred.

YW and will be on the campus

president.
Mrs. Lawther is meeting with
all the various groups within the
Y organization while she is here
and is also available for any
individual conferences by ap
pointment.
She is a graduate of the Uni
versity and was vice-president
of the Y when she was a senior.

Workshop Class
Gives First Show
Students in the television
workshop class in the Radio and
TV section of the speech depart
ment will produce the first tele
vision program channeled from
the studios in Villard over a
closed circuit.
The program will be channeled
through this circuit to the tele
vision room in Allen hall where
an audience will be able to view
it on the set.
"The Valiant,” the show chosen
to be produced for this program,
will be student-directed, and
there will be student technicians
and actors.
The program is being produced
as an example of the type of
elasswork and activity connect
ed with this school in the speech
department.
