Eimrald RaoorUr
With the aid of a torn print
dress Gina Loliobrigida romps
through the hilarious film,
"Bread, Love and Dreams," now
at the Mayflower. This Italian
film tells the laughable story
of a middle-aged and dignified
police marshal who becomes en
tangled with a fiery woman (Lol
lol in love with a handsome
but bashful young rustic on his
force.
The cliche must be used to
describe this movie which is not
only "radiantly charming" and
"aglow with sunny humor," but
if also "a light and delightful
screen experience.”
Featured at the McDonald Fri
day and Saturday is "Prince of
Players." The subject of the
film is Edwin Booth, the great
19th century Shakespearean act
j or.
Booth Drama Here
Booth came from a family of
actors, his best-known relative
being his brother John Wilkes
Booth, who killed Abraham Lin
coln. The English actor, Richard
Burton, plays Booth, and his
father is played by Raymond
Massey. The Shakespearean se
quences were staged by Eva Le
Gallian. Barbara Stanwyck and
others "Escape to Burma” in the
co-feature.
Juvenile delinquency is still
running rampant at the Heilig
where "Blackboard Jungle" has
been held over until Saturday.
There are several second run
films of special interest playing
this weekend, including the Var
sity’s showing of "Garden of
Eder." and "Sleeping Tiger.” The
Garden of Eden is a strange
place where everyone walks
around with his back to the
camera. Especially good is the
Shakespearean sequence, and
the theme song, "Let’s Go Sun
ning,” is memorable.
"Carmen Jones” opens Satur
day at the McKenzie. With ar.
all-Negro cast, including Dorothy
Dandridge and Pearl Bailey, the
modernized version of the opera.
"Carmen,” blazes across the
screen.
English P'ilm Back
One of the most charming pic
tures made in a long time is
“The Little Kidnappers” playing
Friday and Saturday at the Eu
gene Drive-In. This English film
warmly tells the adventures of
two orphaned boys sent to live
. with their stern Canadian grand
parents.
The brothers, delightfully
played by Gene Anderson and
Duncan McCrea, earn the name
of “the little kidnappers” when
they decide that if they cannot
have a dog they will get the
second best thing.
