April 30, which will feature soft
ball and tennis.
Reboot* participating' include
Oregon Stale college, Marylhurst,
Clark eollege, Portland Slate,
Oregon College of Education and
1-ewia and Clark, all of which are
members of the Oregon Athletic
Federation of College Women.
Approximately 70 women are
expected to attend the play day,
which will be held from 10 a.rn.
to 3 p.m.. This play day will be
the fust to be h**ld by all mem
bers of the OAFCW.
Softball, tennis, swimming,
bowling, wlsket and socket are
planned for the day, and indoor
sport* are planned In ease of
rain.

ested in participating may attend
the play day by contacting Prudy
Duclch or Margaret Holman, at
Highland house.
Soph Honorary
Sets Deadline
All freshmen women interested
in being a member of Kwarna,
sophomore women's sei-vice hon
orary, must turn in their peti
tions by 5 p.m, April 22. accord
ing to Helen Ruth Johnson, presi
dent.
The petitions may be given to
Miss Johnson. Chi Omega; Shir
ley Bostad, Carson 2; or any
other K warn a member. A picture
must accompany each petition,
and all activities should be listed
in order of importance. The stan
dard ASUO petition*, which may
be obtained on the third floor of
the Student Union, may be used.
Suggestions will be disregarded.
Kwama membership requires
a minimum winter term GPA of
2 00 and an accumulative GPA
of 2 00. Thirty new members will
be tapped during Junior Week
end.

YWCA Celebrates
100th Anniversary
The University YWCA will
take part in celebrations of the
I (With anniversary of the na
tional YWCA organization by
raising fund* to present a
“birthday gift” from the cam
pus group.
The campus YWCA i* at pres
ent railing for petitions for gen
eral chairman to take charge of
all centennial interpretation and
fund raising. The position be
came vacant when the general
chairman found it necessary to
resign due to conflicting duties.
The petitioner must be a sopho
more or junior.
Petitions should he turned in
to the YWCA office by noon
Friday.

marriage of Lucy Sprouse to 2nd
Lt. Barr Fletcher at St. Mark’s
Episcopal church in Portland.
Following the ceremony the
couple flew to Champagin,’ Il
linois, and from there they trav
eled to Chinute, Illinois, where
Barr is stationed with the United
States Air Force.

Tap Sophomore
Sally Allen, sophomore in for
eign languages, was tapped for
membership in Kwama during
i dinner Tuesday evening. Im
mediately following the tapping,
initiation was held.
Miss Allen has been active in
the YWCA during her freshman
and sophomoie year. She is pres
ently serving as house manager
of her sorority. Pi Beta Phi.
Next-fall Miss Allen will continue
■ her studies in France, but will
'return the following year to
graduate from the University.

Time Limit Set
ROTC Seniors
The Department of Army ha*
announced that Army ROTC sen
iors who will he c-ommissioied
, in June must be ordered to active
duty within 24 months. This is a
change from the previous time
, limit of 12 months.
Every commissioned ROTC
■ graduate, except those who qual
ify for Selective Service classi
j fications I-C or TV-A as veterans
of prior military service, will bo
\ ordered to active duty for two
! years. Veterans will become
■ members of the U.S. Army Re
serve.
Unless the ROTC officers vol
unteer for fntry to duty later
than 12 months following their
graduation, they will be- ordered
■ into service in equal monthly
groups during the year beginning
July 1, 1955. When a graduate
requests a delay until after July
1. 1956. he will be given priority,
quotas permitting.
Graduates will attend a three
month refresher course at their
respective service schools before
being assigned to Army units.
