Tradition talks of the June
bride, but this summer the spot
light will be taken instead by an
August bride. Barbara McNabb,
Alpha Chi Omega, and Bob
Stout, a graduate of Oregon last
yea;-, have planned a large wed
ding August 27, in Barbara’s
home town, Los Angeles.
Their engagement was an
nounced last October when Bob
presented Barbara with a white
gold solitaire engagement ring.
Bob. who was a member of
Beta Theta Pi at the University,
is now working for Interstate
Tractor and Equipment Co. in
Roseburg. Students at Oregon,
especially those who are interest
ed in basketball, will remember
Bob as a member of Oregon's
team for his last three years.
Their immediate plans include
a small apartment in Roseburg.
Barbara hopes that in the future
the apartment will develop into
a large low house of the Califor
nia modern style, with large bay
windows and contemporary fur
nishings. To this home, she will
add the treasures of her hope
chest: her china, ‘‘Weed” by Len
ox and Sterling. “'Royal Danish”
by International.

Furniture Keynote Today
For Brides Is Simplicity
The keynote for modern furni
ture fashion for the modem bride
is “clean-looking” and comfort
able, and simply furniture. The
Oregon house-wife will try to
make her home look sunny and
bright because of the well-known
fact that Oregon weather is not
always very sunny or bright.
The new trend in sofas is the
soft, casual, sweep line with the
pillow arm. Plaids are beginning
to arrive in chairs and sofas.
Much of the materials will be
synthetics. There are many 90
degree couches which serve to
make the room look more roomy.
Television Popular
The bride should also note that
the increasing popularity of tcle
vision is making the living room
j or den a much more important
room. There is much more sit
tints space In the modern living
room. New Bwivel chairs with
foam rubber cushions can help
to fill up the spare.
There is a very great Eastern
Influence in furniture. People are
beginning to realize the value of
good modern statues and are
m i x i n g traditional assessories
with modern furniture and mod
ern assesaorlea with traditional
furniture.
.Modern Color Combinations
Two very popular color i om
binations this year are gold
against white and lime green
against yellow. A very modern
trend is to have a room with one
predominate color in varying
shades.
Textured grass-'loth wall pa
per is very popular this year.
The new trend in drapes is to
have printed sheers and mesh
materials.
