Wesley Will Show
Movie of Founder
The motion picture. "John
Wesley,” life story of the founder
1 of the Methodist church, will be
shown at Wesley foundation this
Sunday at 4. 6 and 8 p.m., ac
cording to Ken Petersen, director
at Wesley.
The public is invited to see
the new, feature-length film,
which portrays for the first time
on the screen, the character of
John Wesley, 18th century evan
igelist and educator. The film is
in the new Eastman color and
was produced by the Radio and
film commission of the Meth
odist church in( cooperation with
j. Arthur Rank.
Wesley's rescue at the age of
5 from a burning house at the
beginning of the film forecasts
the dramatic and eventful life of
the English clergyman depicted
throughout the rest of the movie.
The slight-statured clergyman
who thought his venture in Am
erica. as a missionary to the In
dians of the Georgia colony, was
a failure found it was the kind
of failure which opened the door
to the discovery of the religious
security, Wesley had been seek
ing and later led to the found
ing of Methodism.
