Opening Sunday is the new
MGM musical extravaganza
“Jupiter’s Darling,” starring
Esther Williams, Howard Keel.
Marge and Gower Champion and
George Sanders.
The musical satire on the frol
ics and foibles of Rome has a
supporting cast of 600 actors.
Eighty-two sets were used in its
production.
Companion feature is “Rico
chet Romance,” starring Mar
jorie Main and Chill Wills. The
picture's title was inspired by
the popular song of the same
name.
The Silver Chalice
Opening at the MacDonald to
day is “The Silver Chalice,” a
Biblical tale of the moulding of
the chalice for the cup from
which Christ drank at the last
supper. Stars are Jack Palance,
Virginia Mayo and Pier Angelli
and the newcomer Paul Newman.
Co-features are "Below the
Rio Grande,” in CinamaScope,
and the documentary film "The
Cowboy.”
The Straw Men
“The Straw Men,” an English
mystery film starring Dirmont
Welsh and Clifford Evans will
continue at the Mayflower until
Wednesday, when Japanese
prize-winner “Ugetsu,” requested
by the University,” opens.
White Christmas
The extravagant Vista Vision
musical “White Christmas”
plays at the North End Drive-in
theater this weekend. Stars of
the movie are Bing Crosby, Dan
ny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and
Vera Ellen.
The musical score is by Irving
Berlin.
