A "Hanging of the Greens"

decorations and there will be
games, carols and refreshments.
The trimming of the tree will be
held after th<- basketball game.

for regular Sunday morning

A discussion meeting will be
held by Canterbury Club Sunday
at St. Mary's Episcopal church,

a.m. every Wednesday and an In

every Wednesday evening at the

from 8 to 10 p.m. every Thurs
day in the Student Union.
Canterbury club meets at the
College Side from 4 to 5 p.m.
every Thursday to discuss ques
tions of Episcopal thought, back
ground. practice or conviction.

Luther House
Sunday evening activities at
Luther House, 1376 Alder, will
begin at 7 p.m. with a guest
speaker. After the evening
meeting, students will partici
pate in a choral program at
Bcthesda Lutheran church. Stu

The LSH basketball team open
ed its season Thursday with a
game against the Bible Standard
Institute. The team will play
the Church of God team at 7:30
p.m. Thursday. Anyone inter
ested in -playing on the team

A Christinas caroling party
will be held at 7:30 p.m. Satur
day, Dec. 11. Games and refresh
ments will be furnished by Lu
ther House after the caroling.

Sarton to Give Three
Lectures Next Week
George Barton, international
ly-known authority on the his
tory and philosophy of science,
will deliver three lectured on the
1 campus Monday, Tuesday and i
Thursday of next week.
Barton, who is sponsored by
the Failing Distinguished Lee-'
ture. committee, will speak at 8 j
p.m. each of the three nights. !
The title of Monday night's talk
is “Euclid.” On the following |
evening he will discuss “Medie
val Science,” with emphasis on j
Arabic writings.
His final lecture on the cam-'
pus Thursday night will be on I
"Leonardo De Vinci.”
The 70-year-bid Harvard fac- ^
ulty member has written more;
than a dozen books ranging from i
histories of science and mathe- j
matics to Asiatic art and Arabic
culture. Among his better-known
works is an "Introduction to the
History of Science.”
Sarton was born and educated ,
in Ghent, Belgium and came to

the United State* in 1915. He
was decorated with the Knight
Order of Leopold of Belgium in
1940 and has been president of
the International Union of his
tory of Science since 1950.
