A five percent raise of the basic rate was passed by Congress Oct. 1 and should appear in No vember checks. • • * Veterans are advised to notify the VA of changes in beneficiary on armed forces insurance poli cies. Veterans are also advised to check as to how long after sep aration they are covered. The periods vary in length from 30 to 120 days, but should be checked. Also important is whether or not the premium has been waived to allow the veteran to receive the free "Indemnity coverage."
