ter,” will be the topic discussed at
the Newman club meeting Sunday,
begining at 7 p. m. with Benedic
tion of the Blessed Sacrament in
the chapel of Sacred Heart hospi
tal. A social hour in the recrea
tion room will follow the meeting.
Wesley House
Merilyn Fullerton, sophomore in
education, has invited all Wesley
students to her home for refresh
ments following the game Satur
day. Those planning to attend
should meet in front of Gerlinger
hall immediately after the game.
In Sunday’s Koinonia Klass at
9:45 a. m. the prophet motive of
Hosea will be discussed by Ken
Peterson, junior in education.
Those who wish a ride to the class
at First Methodist church should
meet in front of Gerlinger hall at
9:30 a. m. The sermon by Rev.
Farris at 9:45 and 11 a. m. will
be “Belief in the Holy Spirit.” At
6 p. m. in Gerlinger hall, the wor
ship workshop led by Jackie Mea
dows, a sophomef in sociology,
will present “Obstacles to a Mean
ingful Personal Prayer Life.” A
light supper will be served before
the program. Helen Hall, fresh
man in liberal arts, is in charge of
worship for the evening.
Tuesday evening, W. S. Balding
er, associate professor of art and
curator of the Oriental Arts Mu
seum, will talk on “Religion and
Art.” Ted Goh, junior in journal
ism, is in charge of the worship
for that evening.
Stan Ruckman, freshman in ar
chitecture, will direct the Wednes
day noon chapel service. Those at
tending are to bring sack lunches.
The Wesley choir, under Betty
Peterson’s direction, will practice
from 6:30 to 7:30 Thursday.
Westminster Foundation
Tonight at 6 those wishing to
go to the game at Corvallis are to
meet at Westminster house, where
transportation will be provided.

church, will speak on “Is Man

Civic Orchestra
Concert Monday
The first performance of the
Eugene Civic orchestra will be
presented Monday night at 8:15
in the Eugene high school audi
torium. Admission to the concert,
which is open to all of those in
terested in attending, will be free.
Composed of University students
and townspeople, the orchestra
was started last fall. Edmund
Cykler, professor of music, directs
the group.
The program for Monday's con
cert includes “Symphony 88 in G
Major” by Haydn; “Caprica Es
panol," by Rimsky-Korsakov, and
the “Prelude to the Meistersing
ers,” by Wagner.
Also on the program will be
a soprano solo by Exine M. An
derson, assistant professor of
voice. Miss Anderson will sing
arias from Massenet’s opera “The
Cid,” and from Verdi’s “Aida."
OSC 'Goose' Fest
Slated After Game
All Oregon students attending
tonight's basketball game in Cor
vallis have been invited to attend
the Oregon State college AWS
carnival, "Mother Goose Midway.”
The Midway is scheduled to open
at the Oregon State armory at
9:30 p. m.
General admission to the carni
val will be 30 cents. Various OSC
women's living organizations will
construct booths around themes
such as Humpty-Dumpty, Jack be
Nimble and Old Mother Hubbard.
