Win In Close Contests
There were only two close
games Tuesday in intramural bas
ketball, as ‘B’ squads squared oIt
to their second day of action. Sig
ma Phi Epsilon edged out Sigma
Nu, 16-15, with a last minute
stall; and Nestor hall squeezed
by Susan Campbell, 27-22, in a
close frosh contest.
In other games. Legal Eagles
dropped Campbell Club, 26-6; Hale
Kane tripped Barrister Inn, 25-11;
Sigma Alpha Epsilon trimmed
Kappa • Sigma 18-10; and Beta
Theta Pi downed Delta Upsilon,
39-12.
Dick “Peewee" Adams was high
man for the day, plunking in 18
points. Sam Duncan, Hale Kane,
and Jim Wood, Legal Eagles, were

On Wrestling List
Oregon’s wrestling squad, witlj
an even .500 record, goes through
nine mofe matches before winding
up the season on March 3. In
cluded in this total are meets with
Washington State and California.
Oregon faces its next competi
tion this Saturday in Eugene,
when Multnomah Athletic club
comes down from Portland.

Sigma Alpha Mu took a step
forward in the intramural hand
ball bracket, Tuesday, defeating
Nestor hall, 3-0, jn the opening
candball match for both squads.
The Sammies won both singles
matches handily, and took the
ioubles by forfeit.
Howard Sussman toppled Bob
drall, 21-12 and 21-9 in the first
singles match; while P.on Sherman
took two from Bob Wilbur, 21-4
ind 21-1, in the other singles.
Halberg Top Man

Jumping Ed Halberg has a vir
tual monopoly on the Webfoot
scoring columns after two weeks
of Northern Division action. He
leads in points scored, field goal
averages, free throw averages,1
and field goals.
Max Anderson, sophomore pivot
star who has come along fine in
his first season of varsity ball,
follows Halberg in the total scor
ing department.
The Webfoots, as a team, are
rolling along at their top shoot
ing percentage in history. In ND'
competition, the dead-eye Ducks:
are shooting away at a .428 clip,j
and also possess a .382 for the
whole season.
Oregon scoring is very well bal
anced, with four of the regulars i
averaging 10 points or better. Hal- ;
berg has a 16.7 mark; Anderson
owns a 12.7 average; Barney Hol
land is recording an even 11 points
per game; and Captain Kenny
Wegner has a 10.2.
Getting down to figures, Hal
berg connected on 75 percent of
his shots over the weekend against
WSC to boost his conference mark
to .610. For the whole season it
stands .516.
On the free toss line, he is even
more deadly, missing only three
gifters out of a possible 22.
Other field goal percentages .

Arthur court Tuesday afternoon,
preparing an attack to use against
