Religious Notes by Mitzi Asai Wesley Foundation Carlisle Moore, associate profes sor of English, continues the series on "This I Believe,” this Sunday evening. Taking advantage of the fall weather, Wesleyans will leave from Wesley house at 5 p.m. for Arrnitage park. The 25 cent sup per will be a Swedish barbecue. At the potluck at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday Clare Hamlin, architect for the planned Wesley Founda tion building, will present plans along with a talk on “Architecture in the Church.” Thursday noon students will meet for a luncheon fellowship period, followed by a student-led chapel at 12:30. That evening at 6:30 the Wesley choir will have its regular practice. A spiritual life retreat is in the planning for Wesleyans Friday evening, Oct. 16, through Sunday afternoon, to be held at Camp Magruder. Christian Science The regular meeting of the Christian Science organization will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the men's lounge of Oerlinger hall. Christian House Those attending the fall retreat at Belknap Springs resort on the McKenzie river should meet at Christian house Saturday morning and be ready to leave at 7:30 a m. Elizabeth Gloyd is general chair man for the planning retreat. As sisting her are Nancy Daniels and Joan Wilson, publicity, and Doug Calef, transportation. The regular Donut Hour will be held at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, followed by tiie Bible study class taught by Victor Morris, acting president. Transportation to the First Chris tian church will be provided after the class. Guest speakers for the evening program will be Omnya Suelem, Egypt, and Jalal-Diean, India, who will discuss Islam. Wor ship service leader will be Bob Griffeth. At 6:15 p.m. Wednesday the ex ecutive council will meet for a dessert and regular business meet ing. The group will go calling after the meeting, under the direction of the membership committee, of which Donna Plymale is chairman. Newman Club Father Leander, O.S.B., gradu ate student in education, will lead a discussion on ‘‘Religion in Edu cation," at Newman club’s meeting this week. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. with Benediction of the Spanish, Portugal Teachers To Meet The Oregon chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese will hold their first meeting of the year this Saturday in the Student Un ion. The luncheon meeting will open with a tour of the new Eugene high school at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the lunch eon will be a talk by the new Spanish-American literature pro fessor, Edmundo Garcia-Giron on ‘‘La risa util de un lugareno: Ru ben Romero.” Romero was a prom inent contemporary Mexican nov elist. Violations Tried By Student Court Two traffic violation cases were brought before the Student Court at the regular meeting Wednes day night. Sam Vahey, sophomore in journalism, was fined $1 for parking in the service drive of the Student Union. Bob Pillmer’s ticket for parking in the service drive of the SU was voided as he had sufficient evi dence to prove he was making a delivery, according to Carl Weber, chairman of the court. Blessed Sacrament In the chapel of Sacred Heart hospital. Following the discussion there will be a short social hour. Lutheran House Lutheran student house, 1376 Alder, is taking part in the all Oregon Lutheran student retreat at Camp Westwind on the coast. Cars will leave the house Friday afternoon and Saturday. The re treat will be topped off by a tur key banquet Saturday night, and students will return Sunday after noon. Reservations may be made by calling 4-7373. Sunday, at 5:30 p.m. there will be a supper at the house after which students will move to Em maus Lutheran church for the for mal installation of Jim Kallas as student adviser.
