the competition in the pole vault
event. The remainder of the en
tries will be competing in the dis
tance medley. They are Bob Dil
linger running the mile, Gary Gib
son in the three-quarter mile, Gor
dy Dalquest in the half-mile, and
Dick Gienger in the quarter-mile.
Baseballers Leave
For WSC, Idaho
The high-flying Oregon baseball
team left Wednesday morning for
the Palouse Hills where they will
defend their first place position
against Washington State this
weekend and Idaho Monday and
Tuesday.

tion of the Webfoot track prac
tice.
Selective Service Exam
Scheduled for May 21
Men who are completing, or
have completed, one year of col
lege and who have not yet taken
the Selective Service College Qual
ification test may take the final
test offered this term on May 21.

tive 1953 football squad had a third
day of spring practice yesterday,
and for the third straight day, in
termittent rain dampened the
team.
Although much time was de
voted to fundamentals and condi
tioning, the coaches started prac
ticing on pass defense and offense.
Barney Holland, with two years
of varsity experience, worked at
the quarterback slot for the Ducks,
and despite a wet ball, connected
consistently with his receivers.
Mentors for the Oregon foot
ballers, besides Casanova, are Jack
Roche, assistant coach, Vern Ster
ling, line coach, and Johnny Mc
Kay, backfield coach. Also assist
ing were seniors Monte Brethauer
and Emmett Williams, end and
guard, respectively, on last fall's
gridiron squad.

Deadline Tonight For
All-Campus Pin Entries
Eleven p.m. tonight is the dead
line for entering the all-campus
bowling tournaments, reminds Lou
Bellisimo, Student Union recrea
tional director. The competition
will start tomorrow, May 1, and
continue for two weeks.
The entrants will be divided into
five classes, according to ability.
The three men’s divisions are A,
for good bowlers with no handi
cap; B for keglers with a campus
average; and C, for beginners.
Women will be classed into A,
those with an established campus
average; and B, beginners.
Take-home trophies will be pre
! sented to the winners in each divi
sion, and the winners will also
have their name put on a perman
ent bowling cup.
Each bowler will roll twelve
games, nine at his own conven
ience and three during the last day
of competition when everyone will
perform.
A charge of 25 cents per line
will be paid, but shoe rentals will
be free. Complete rules are avall
