Oregon’s Ducks went
through hitting and fielding
drills Monday in preparation
for their non-league encounter
with the Portland university
Pilots at Howe field this after
noon at 3 p.111. Currently poss
essing a 10-gatnc winning
streak, the \\ ebfoots will he
out to increase their victory
string at the expense of the vis
iting Pilots.
Excepting two later conference
games with Oregon State, the
game will be Oregon's last home
appearance of the year.
Despite being held down some
what by Washington pitchers, Cen
terfielder Jim Livesay is still the
Ducks leading Northern division
hitter with a .428 average—nine
hits in 21 at bats. Following Live
say is Shortstop George Shaw with
.333, Earl Averlll, also with .333
and Leftfielder Ron Phillips with
.316. Firstbaseman Don Siegmund
leada in runs scored with seven
while Phillips has batted in the
most runs, eight.
Leading the pitchers are Sopho
more righthanders Bill Blodgett
and Norm Forbes, each with per
fect 2-0 records. Southpaw Stan
Dmochowsky has the other Ore
gon conference win.

The Phi Delts started the scoring

and scored on Lewis' single. They
added two more in the fourth for a
3-0 lead. Hits by Jim Spiekerman
and A1 Mundle drove across the
tallies.

In other games Sigma Chi scored
six times in the third inning to
edge Tau Kappa Epsilon 6-5; Sig
ma hall trounced Philadelphia
House 21-4; Sherry Ross turned
on the power to wallop Stitzer 25
8; and the Legal Eagles topped
Merrick 11-3. A sixth game ended
in Phi Sigma Kappa forfeiting to
Pi Kappa Alpha.

Leading the Ducks has been
Captain Bob Atkinson, two year
letterman. Giving plenty of sup
port have been A1 Mundle, who
captured medalist honors against
Seattle, • and Don Krieger, a one
year letter winner from Redmond,
Calif.
The next meet for Oregon is
against Oregon State this Satur
day at the Eugene Country club.
Trackmen Travel
To Meet Cougars
Oregon’s third place track team
travels to Pullman to meet the
front running WSC Cougars Satur
day. The Ducks, after beating Ida
ho 84-47 two weeks ago, succumb
ed to the Washington Huskies last
week by a score of 77-54.
In other ND action, Washington
travels to Corvallis to meet the
weak Beavers. In the Southern Di
vision in impotent UCLA team
hosts the perennial champions,
Southern Cal.
