The leading contenders for the runner-up slot, the h niver sity of Idaho Vandals and the Uni versity of Oregon Webfoots, knock heads tonight and Saturday in a two-game series which can go a long way in determining the place horse. Starting time for both Mc Arthur court games are 8 p.m. Oregon State's Rooks and the Duck Frosh meet in the opener to night at 5:45 and Everybody’s Drug of Eugene" is billed for the Saturday prelim, also at 5:45 p.m. Holland Doubtful Bruised Barney Holland, Web foot guard who collided with the floor Saturday at Corvallis, ex perimented with a protective face guard Thursday, but it is doubtful whether or not he will be allowed to play in the opener. Ducklings Slate Rooks, Everybody's Drug Store Boasting an over-all record of nine wins and five losses the Oregon frosh basketballers will, this week-end, attempt to turn the tables on two of the teams who have interrupted their winning ways in the past. Friday night the Ducklings will play their fourth game of a five game series with the Oregon State Rooks and their incomparable scoring machine, Swede Halbrook. The Rooks have downed Don Kirsch’s lads three times this sea son so the Frosh are quite anxious to break into the victory column against their traditional rivals. To add incentive to the Duck ling winning desire the Kooks will bring with them an im pressive seasonal record of 13 wins without a defeat and noth ing would please the local five more than to nmr this perfect mark. After dropping the first two to the Kooks by big mar gins, 07-50 and 01-42, the Frosli came back strong last Saturday night at Corvallis to give the Staters many anxious moments before succumbing to their foe, 52-51. Saturday evening the Ducklings; will take on Everybody's Drug, an A.A.U. team, for the third lime this year and have high hopes of avenging two earlier defeats by them. In both their games with the "Druggists” the Frosh have held large halftime leads only to blow the margin in the second half. The meet, a non-conference affair, will be held in the men’s pool 3:00 p.m, and is wpen to the public. For the past week Duck swimmers have been concentrat ing on turns and strokes. Al though if is customary to have a light practice tile daj before a meet, Coach John liorchardt planned to run the squad through a stiff workout today. He stressed the need for good conditioning, as conference ac tion starts next week. Oregon will be slight favorites to take the meet. Last week, the Ducks outseoiied the Multnomah Athletic club 113-82 in the senior men’s division meet held in Port land. Yosh Terada and Gordon Ed wards sparked the Ducks to their win. Edwards scored 22 points and Terada 23 and one half points. Pete Van Dijk, ex-Oregon swim mer, and George Claussen are ex pected’ to give the webbed-feet trouble in the 300-yard free-style and the 100-yard backstroke.
