Office of H. P. Barnhart, di
rector of dormitories, located in
Carson hall, was enlarged and
moved to prpvide better natural
lighting by physical plant em
ployees during the holiday vaca
tion period.
Barnhart's office now occupies
what was formerly the men’s
lounge and coat room, adjacent
to the men's rest room.

Three articles written by Bert
ram Jessup, associate professor of
philosophy, will appear in forth
coming issues of professional jour
nals.
“The Mihd of Elia", a study of
the philosophy of Charles Lamb,
has been accepted by the “Journal
of the History of Ideas.” The
“Journal of Aesthetics and Art
Criticism” will publish Jessup’s
“Meaning Range in the Work of
Art.” “The Comparative Aesthetic
Judgment” will appear in "Philoso
phy and Phenominological Re
search.”
Cressman Directs
Anthro Survey
A survey of Oregon coast pre
historic development which was be
gun in June 1951 was continued
last summer under the direction of
L. S. Cressman, professor of an
thropology.
Excavations were carried on for
six weeks at Bandon, Netarts, Co
quille and finally at the Big-Eddy
site at The Dalles. At The Dalles
work was carried on under con
tract with the National Park serv
ice in an area which will be flooded
by the Dalles dam.
