Awards to be Made
At Sing Intermission
The All-campus Sing, “Sand
man's Serenade” will open at '8 p.m.
DST Saturday night in McArthur
Court with the Junior” "Weekend
Queen’s Processional. Ten men’s
and ten women s nouses win amg,
competing for top honors. Awards
and tappings by honoraries will be
made during the intermissions.
Tickets are 90 cents and may be
obtained from sales representatives
in the living organizations.
The Queen and her court will
enter Mac Court in a processional
to view the proceedings of the eve
ning. The Junior Weekend Queen,
to be announced at the Prom Sat
urday night, will be chosen from
Princesses Pat Johnson, Barbara
Booth, Nannette Silverthorne, Joan
Renner and Jo Martin.
'' During the intermission follow
ing half of the houses’ songs, the
William Frager Skull and Dagger
Scholarship will be awarded by
John Beal to a sophomore man.
Karen Jacobsen will award the Del
ta Delta Delta. Scholarship to a
University woman. The Hazel P.
Schwering and Burt Brown Barker
scholarships will be awarded by
Mrs. Perrie Dolph and Burt B. Bar
ker. Trophies for the houses tak
ing top honors in the Float Pa
rade will be presented by Norma
Hultgren and Jim Owens.
After all song competition,
Friars and Skull and Dagger will
tap junior and freshmen men for
membership. The Maurice Harold
Hunter and Josephine Evans Harp
ham scholarships will be awarded.
Following the judges’ decisions,
the All-campus Sing trophies will
be presented to the winning living
organization in the men’s and
women’s groups. These winners will
sing in the Sunlight Serenade Sun
day at 3 p.m. DST.
A Queen’s recessional will close
the All-campus Sing.
Women’s houses competing in
the Sing are Carson hall, Ann Jud
son, Sigma Kappa, Kappa Kappa
Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Delta Delta
Delta, University house and Chi
Omega.
Men’s finalists are Sigma Alpha
Epsilon, Campbell Club, Delta Up
silon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Phi Epsi
lon, Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Tau
Delta, Lambda Chi Alpha, Theta
Chi and Hunter-Minturn.
The order in which houses will
sing will be announced later.
Annua! Tug-of-war
Planned for Friday
The annual freshman-sophomore
tug-o-war will be staged at 4 p.m.
Friday adjacent to the Kincaid
bridge, Dick Morse, Junior Week
end traditions chairman, has an
nounced.
The battle is held yearly to de
termine whether the freshman con
tinue wearing the green ribbons
and rooters lids. If the freshman
win, the ribbons and lids are dis
carded in keeping with tradition.
Last year the class of 1953 won
the^ontest.
Bob Brittain, sophomore class
president, and Bob Glass, freshman
class president, are making plans
for the “grueling” battle.

All-university Luncheon Scheduled
To Begin Late Saturday Morning
The all-campus luncheon, to he
held on the Old Campus, weather
permitting, will begin at 11:45 a.m.,
Saturday.

en’s honorary; Skull and Dagger,
sophomore men’s honorary; Phi
Theta Upsilon, junior women’s hon
orary; and Alpha Phi Omega, na
tional men’s service honorary.
The processional of the queen
and her court will begin at 12:30
p.m. The queen will reign over the
noontime activities which include
;he tapping of the following hon
jraries: Scabbard and Blade;
Friars, senior men’s honorary; and
Mortar Board, senior women’s hon
>rary. Ed Raggazino will be master
:>f ceremonies.
Luncheon tickets have been dis
tributed to living organizations.
Price of tickets is 47 cents. No
lunches will be served in houses

Sunlight Serenade Ends Weekend
The Sunlight Serenade, final
event of Junior Weekend, will be
held at 3 p.m. DST Sunday in the
music school amphitheater.
The program will include the fol
lowing: the all-campus sing win
ners, the university band; Jan Ev
ans, Walter Martin, Audrey Mis
tretta and Gordon Howard, solo
ists; a combo with Kaare Sande
gren at the piano, Larry Burr on

Students May Get
Oreganas in SU
Students who did not pick up
their Oreganas during the regular
time for distribution Tuesday and
Wednesday may now get them in
the office of the Student Union on
the mezzanine floor.
The yearbooks will be available
in that office until further notice,
Editor Bob Funk said Wednesday
night.

Gretchen Grefe, junior in busi
ness, was appointed general chair
man for Mortar Board Ball, annual
gal-ask-fellow dance, by members
of the senior women’s honorary
Wednesday night.
The dance is scheduled for Sat
urday night, May 24.

Traditions Violators
Expected to Appear
“Violators of Junior Weekend
traditions are to appear at the Fen
ton Pool or the steps of the Stu
dent Union between 12:20 and
12:30 p.m. (DST) today without
fail,” Ted Anderson, member of
Order of the “O” and in charge of
tradition enforcement, has an
nounced.
Here are the traditional Junior
Weekend rules for those who
haven’t got the word:
1. Freshman women are to wear
green ribbons in their hair.
2. Freshman men are to wear
rooters' lids with the green side
out.
3. Sophomores are to wear blue
Moms' Breakfast
Ticket Sales End
Today is the last day to purchase
tickets for the Mother's breakfast
to be held Saturday morning at 9
DST in Carson hall.
Representatives will be in the
living organizations at noon today
with the tickets students may pur
chase for their mothers who will be
on campus this weekend for special
events in conjunction with Junior
Weekend. Price of the breakfast
tickets is $1.25.
Ticket Sales Close
The ticket sales will continue at
the main desk of the Student Union
only until the desk closes this eve
ning. Ticket Chairman Kay Moore
urges students to get the tickets
for their mothers to enable them to
attend the breakfast which will
