Musicals Open On April 18 The music school and the Uni versity theater will present a double-bill musical opening- April 1* featuring “The Old Maid and tii? Thief,” directed by Frederick J Hunter, instructor in speech, and “The Devil and Daniel Webster." directed by Horace Robinson, asso ciate professor of speech. Audrey Mistretta will play Miss Todd in “The Old Maid,” a gay, farce-comedy. Anita MacGregor v ’.1 play Laetetai; Dorothy Ander son. Miss Pinkerton, and Walter Martin. Bob. Morris Beachy plays Jabez Stone, the subject of controversy in “The Devil.” This is a comedy folk opera taken from Stephen Vincent Benet's famous narrative poem and sung to the music of Douglas Moore. Janice Evans plays Mary Stone. Jvbez’s wife. Larry Swanson is cost as Scratch and Gordon How ard plays Daniel Webster. French Farce OpensThursday Foreign language students will present "Le Medecin Malgre Lui" (The Doctor in Spite ot Himself) us this year’s French play. The play, a seventeenth century French farce, will star David Eakin in the title role. It will be present ed under the auspices of Pi Delta Phi. French honorary. Performances will begin at 8 p.m. on April 10. 11 and 12, with a matinee performance at 4 p.m., Friday, April 11, and an additional matinee on April 19, Saturday, in the Experimental theater in Vil lard hall. A prologue in English will be given by Dr. R. D. Horn, professor of English. Admission will be 50 cents. Tickets for the production will go on sale Monday. April 7, in lan-i guage classes, and may be obtained j from professors and students of; the Foreign Language department, and at the door of the theater."
