About 250 freshmen turned out for the meeting. No chairs were set up for the session and class members sat on the canvas-cov ered ballroom floor. Flections Jan. 28 Freshman elections will be held Wednesday. Jan. 23, ASUO Vice President Merv Hampton told the group. Petitions for office will be accepted until midnight Wednes day, Jun. 16. Formal presentation of candidates will be made Thurs day, Jan. 17, at a nomination as sembly. . Polls will be located in Carson hall, Hendricks hall. Vet's dormi i tory (two polling places) and on 13th ave. near the Co-op, Hamp ton said. To run for office a candidate must have a 2.00 GPA. It will not be necessary to put down activities or suggestions on petitions. Peti tions may be turned to Hampton or the ASUO office. Nomination Assembly Rides At the nomination assembly can didates will be introduced by a person of their choice who will be allowed to speak for two minutes on behalf of his candidate. Speech es by candidates will be limited to five minutes. Offices open will be president, vice president, and two representa tives. Candidates will run for the office of their choice. (Under the preferential voting system all can didates are in effect running for president. Voters will mark their ballots numerically, the figure one for the person they wish for presi dent. the figuie two for vice presi dent, the figure three for their first choice for repiesentative, the figure four for their second choice for representative.) Any freshman who is listed by the Registrar's office may vote in the election. Registration cards must be presented and stamped be fore a freshman may vote.
