One thing that has helped speed
up the Raines Is the modification
of tile underhanded return rule.
Previously If u player hit the hull
with both hands below the waist,
u was called lifting. This made It
p-aetleally Impossible to recover
a sinush hit. I nder this rule the
only way there was of returning
a low ball was one handed, thus
redacting accuaracy and control.
This rule has been modified so
that any player can raise the ball
with an underhanded hit us long
as he does In no way throw it. Now
the games can be played much
more efficiently, resulting in a
much more exciting brand of vol
leyball.
