Squcre Dances To Resume in SU Weekly square dance sessions will begin Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union and will be held every Wednesday. Beginners’ lessons are under the direction of Miss Rosamond Wentworth, asso ciate professor of physical educa tion. Following the beginners' session, which ends at 8:30, and lasting until 10 p.m., members of the Duckeroos, campus square dance organization, will dance. Dress for the dancing is campus clothes, and moccasins or leather soled shoes which have not been worn outside. Bob Briggs, chair man of the SU dance committee, said. The dance series is sponsored by the SU dance committee, in co operation with the school of health and physical education. The program includes contralto Marian Anderson, the Robert Shaw chorale, cellist Gregor Piatigorsky, the Portland Symphony—with so prano Marie Rogndahl as soloist, baritone Robert Weede, the piano duo team of Arthur Gold and Rob ert Fisdale, and pianist William Kapell. Admission to the series, the schedule of which was released by CMA president T. McKenzie Alex ander, is by season ticket only for adults, including family and ad ministration. and by student body cards for students. Founder of Home fcc Department Dies The founder of what became the home economics department at the University of Oregon, Lillian Ella Tingle, died Sunday in a Eugene hosiptal. She was 79. Founder of the University de partment of household arts in 1917 on a budget of $1 per student, she retired from active teaching in 1932. She pioneered in home econ omics teaching in Oregon and wrote widely on homemaking sub jects. Born in England, she came to the United States in 1899 and taught in North Dakota until 1905 when she moved to Portland. She taught in Portland until 1917 when Prince Campbell, president of the University at that time, hired her to teach a course in wartime cook ing.
